Sports Injuries
Sports injuries include a wide variety of muscle, tendon, joint (ligament & cartilage) and other injuries.
A musculo-skeletal injury can occur whether you are a professional sports person or staying active by doing chores around the house.
A wide selection of techniques are used in the treatment. It aims to:
· Reduce acute or chronic pain
· Activate and facilitate the healing process
· Rehabilitate in order to restore power, flexibility, proprioception (balance) and the ultimate safe return to active
sport participation
· Prevent injury recurrence
Ankle sprains or strains are often neglected by patients. Once the bruising, pain and swelling have diminished, the misconception exists that it has healed. On one level that is true, but the Proprioception (awareness of position in space and the ability to adapt to various surfaces and movements) has not recovered. This leads to recurrence of sprains in the future and repetitive micro trauma – a vicious circle. Physiotherapy rehabilitation will prevent this problem with a few simple exercises to restore the normal functioning of the ankle.
Electrotherapeutic modalities used in treatment include ultrasound and the Photizo Light Therapy Device.
A fully equipped gym is located on site for use during rehabilitation sessions.
